Danny, remember me from the old days in NJ/NY? We almost connected in St. T in 08. I'll be there (and in St. John) in a few weeks. Would love to hear you play. Got any gigs planned for Fbe 21 or 22 in St. Thomas?

Danny: I very much enjoyed reading about what you have been up to all these years since jamming and practicing at the Oppenheimer house on Gibney Beach. I found a photo of you and Toni on the beach in St John. What a wonderful life you have made. You have seen the times change on the islands for sure. My husband has been a visitor to St John and St Thomas for so many years, long before hardly anything was built except the original town buildings (none of the waterfront was there when he arrived except the dock). So you were there then too at the same time. We will try to find where you are playing next time in St Thomas and come and enjoy some good island music. Dana

I haven't read your blog yet. But I will. Touched base with Sunshine & G Singer and have posted a few pix from SUNY Buffalo. Try to link to fotos on my Facebook. Otherwise, I'll get them to you another way.

Hey Danny,
Just doing a little research about jazz in the Islands and opportunities to play there...I'm going to be landing there next week on my first sailing experience with Kathi, who has sailing experience and a Captain's License, and looking forward to a great time in the BVI. The Ray Abrams Orchestra(18 peice Swing Band), The NYC Teachers Big Band(18 Peices, more on the Thad-Mel Style),
Side Order, The Teachers Saxophone Quartet, The Don Echoles Conway & Kathryn Iwanusa Duo(a Quintet-Septet, Quartet, and Dou all of whom are derived from the Teachers Big Band are groups that I lead. You can check us out on youtube(search NYC Teachers Jazz Band) Kathi and I are also going to be in Virgin Gorda for two nights during our sail. ( February 16-23, '09) We're just hoping to make some connections while there with musicians and local spots where music is being played. We would appreciate it if you might help us in finding or pointing us in thr right direction for the venues where the music is happening. Hopefully, you'll be available and we can get together for lunch or drinks.
Thanks,
Don

Hello Danny. Nice to read your notice and glad to hear that the lovely island of St. Thomas has jazz. I just passed through St Thomas today as I do every 2 weeks (cruise ship musician) and was wondering what it was like to live there as a working musician. Are people into jazz in the island? Do the hotels put jazz on too? I'd like to listen to your tunes, but i'm using a run down computer on the ship, and the phones don't seem to work. Take care. Carl.
